Twilight Fans Can't Stop the Streisand
You can't stop her, you can only hope to contain her. Too bad Twilight fans couldn't even do that.
The unstoppable—and, as it turns out, untoppable—Barbra Streisand surprisingly beat out both Mariah Carey and vampire (and bookmakers') favorite Paramore to top the Billboard album charts this week.
Which means you may not exactly be thrilled, but your (grand)mom sure is.
Babs' Love Is the Answer silenced both Paramore's Brand New Eyes and Mrs. Cannon's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, marking the singer-actor-director-personal doll shop proprietor's ninth No. 1 on the charts.
But just barely...

What Lautner and Swift Did for Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day will be that much sweeter with a song from Taylor Swift, don't ya think?
The singer, who plays opposite Taylor Lautner in the upcoming ensemble romantic comedy from director Garry Marshall, will likely be writing and performing a tune for the flick.
"We hope she does," Marshall told me yesterday at Variety's inaugural Power of Women luncheon in Beverly Hills. "But when people write songs, they always want to see the movie.
"[Taylor] wants to see the part that she's in," he added. "I just finished, so I need to edit for a second."
Marshall had hoped that Lautner and Swift would have bigger roles in the movie. Sadly, their busy schedules didn't allow for it.
"She writes and sings and he does the vampire thing," Marshall said. "But I discovered Taylor Lautner ran track back in Minnesota. That's why I have him jumping hurdles in the movie. She likes to dance and he likes to jump a hurdle, so we made up the scene for them."
Valentine's Day also reunites Marshall with Julia Roberts. He was quick to shoot down the never-ending rumor that there will be a sequel to their hit Pretty Woman.
However, Marshall did reveal that he's considering another Pretty Woman project. Read on for the scoop...
Rise 'n' Shine: Kate & Leo Keep Titanic Survivor Afloat
• Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as director James Cameron, are Titanic-sized do-gooders. The trio have donated money to help the 98-year-old final remaining survivor of the ship pay her medical bills.
• It's probably safe to say Barbra Streisand is hiring a new receptionist.
• Colin Quinn says America is like Michael Jackson. Strangely enough, it makes sense.
• Raise your hand if you want to see 75-year-old Partridge Family matriarch Shirley Jones pose for Playboy. Yeah, that's what we thought.
• We're wondering if Heidi Montag brought everything and the kitchen sink in that bag she took to her Mother's Day festivities.
• Dear Susan Boyle: Your competition this week, Greg Pritchard (who looks a bit like Adam Lambert), is rather interesting. Simon Cowell compares him to "a dog meowing." You can probably take him, but should keep an eye out nonetheless. Love, Rise 'n' Shine
Just in case you weren't sure who was hanging out in the Big Picture gallery, Gwen Stefani and Kingston Rossdale wear cheat sheets.

Pete Wentz Keeps Coming Out for Gay Marriage
Pete Wentz and Barbra Streisand in the same room together!
What ever will they talk about?
Actually, there's an easy answer for that: gay marriage.
Wentz's band, Fall Out Boy, and Babs are just two of the boldfaced names expected at a Vote No on Prop 8 fundraiser Oct. 21 in Beverly Hills.
For those who haven't heard, Proposition 8 is a November ballot initiative that seeks to overturn California's legalization of gay marriage.
Barbra Streisand in Tune With Barack Obama
Not just anyone could get Barbra Streisand to sing at a hotel function.
But that’s what Babs did last night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel for Sen. Barack Obama.
Her four-song set was followed by dinner and a reception with the presidential hopeful (with some VIP tickets for the evening going for as much as $28,500) at the nearby Greystone Mansion.
“I woke up this morning with this slogan in my head…‘McCain-Palin: Change,” Streisand said, according to a partygoer. “Change what? From bad to worse?”
Basic tickets for the Streisand performance were $2,500 a pop.
So just how much did the night raise for Obama and the Democratic Party?
