Brad Pitt's New Fight Club: Battling Aliens

Brad Pitt AP Photo/Stephen Chernin

On the eve of New Moon's opening, it's only natural O.G. cinema vamp Brad Pitt would want a share of the spotlight.

And what Pitt wants, Pitt gets, this time courtesy of the news that he's set to develop—and most likely take the lead role in—a big screen adaptation of Dark Void, a forthcoming shoot-'em-up video game.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pitt would ostensibly star as Will, a cargo pilot who finds himself in a parallel universe after crashing in the Bermuda Triangle. He and his outnumbered crew, along with their mysterious, unnamed "powers," end up fighting aliens that the previously presumed to be extinct.

The film-inspiring game is released in January.

Apparently, you're not really feelin' Johnny Depp.

Based on your numerous comments and clicks on our poll this morning, many of you agree with People's pick for Sexiest Man Alive, but a majority of you would have gone in a different direction.

Well, we hear you loud and clear...and you're not alone.

"I'm a bit surprised," a taken-aback America's Next Top Model judge "Miss J" Alexander told us at the VH1 Save the Music Big Shopping event at the W Hotel Times Square this afternoon.

We read what you had to say about this hot-button issue and tallied your first choices (yeah, we're that scientific from time to time). We're not going to lie—you surprised us.

Your hottest hottie, by a landslide, is...

Jennifer Hudson's Post-Murder Movie: A Win-Winnie Situation

Jennifer Hudson, Winnie Mandela Frank Micelotta/Getty Images, Alexander Joe/AFP/Getty Images

Jennifer Hudson is going first lady on us. Just not our first lady.

The Oscar winner is baiting the Academy once more, this time as she signs on to star as the titular Winnie in a biopic about the wife of former South Africa prez Nelson Mandela.

According to Variety, the drama, based on the Anne Marie du Preez Bezrob biography Winnie Mandela: A Life, won't shy away from the less flattering and more controversial elements of the famous spouse's life.

A mom and, of course, wife, Mandela was a loyal supporter of her husband's and was jailed herself. In later years, she was accused of horrendous human rights violations by an ex-bodyguard, who claimed she regularly ordered him to beat and kill people, including a 14-year-old boy. She was convicted of kidnapping and assault.

Not that Hudson's worried about taking on such a challenging role...

"I was compelled and moved when I read the script," Hudson told the trade mag of the part, which will be her first since the tragic deaths of her mother, brother and nephew last fall. "Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I'm honored to be the actress asked to portray her.

"This is a powerful part of history that should be told."

There's no word yet on who will play Nelson Mandela, but if producers choose to go the May-December route, Variety helpfully points out that Morgan Freeman is already playing the iconic figure opposite Matt Damon in the forthcoming Invictus, directed by Clint Eastwood.

Still—we can't decide, so we're asking you—which of the New Moon mag covers gets your heart racing the most?

Grey's Anatomy First Look: Is This McSteamy's Daughter?

Leven Rambin, Grey's Anatomy ABC/Danny Feld
More from Watch with Kristin

Leven Rambin, aka home wrecker Riley from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is coming to Grey's Anatomy Nov. 19, and her home-wrecking streak might not be done yet...

We've been told that Leven's character features heavily in the Nov. 19 episode, titled "Holidaze," and that during the course of that episode (which spans several weeks of story time), "Mark (Eric Dane) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) must cope with the shocking arrival of a woman from his past."

What's so shocking? Well, rumor has it that Leven plays Mark "McSteamy" Sloan's long-lost daughter. Gasp!

Do you see a family resemblance?

And if you're a "Sexie" fan, is it better if this newcomer is a romantic rival or if she's just a reminder that the Mark-Lexie romance is sometimes just a smidge age-inappropriate? (Seriously, Leven and Chyler look like they could be sorority sisters!)

Last but not least, is anyone out there a tiny bit suspicious that this blond newcomer might actually be the daughter that Izzie (Katherine Heigl) gave up for adoption?

Chris Martin Who? Gwyneth Paltrow Stands By Her Woman

Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman Christopher Peterson/BuzzFoto/Getty Images, Jason Kempin/Getty Images

Nicole Kidman is apparently man enough for Gwyneth Paltrow. (The jury's still out on whether a certain Coldplay frontman can lay claim to the same.)

Her Goopness has signed on to play the wife of the world's first post-operative transsexual in The Danish Girl, the long-in-the-works film adaptation of the same-named novel.

She replaces Charlize Theron in the role of Greta, a portrait painter in the 1920s who encourages her husband to dress up and sit as her female model. The resulting artwork becomes wildly popular, her husband realizes he has more than a penchant for his womanly alter ego and presto, big-time change-o, Kidman's man turns into a woman.

Oscar, are you listening?

Let the Right One In's Tomas Alfredson directs the film which has yet to set a start date, pending financing.

'N Sync's Joey Fatone Admits He's a Has-Been

Joey Fatone Adrian Varnedoe, PacificCoastNews.com

If what you wear says a lot about who you are, someone might want to get Joey Fatone to therapy, stat!

The former member of 'N Sync donned a rather pessimistic—although arguably valid—shirt that read, "Has Been."

Of course, it probably didn't make him feel any better when former bandmate J.C. Chasez told MTV the group would never get back together.

Or maybe all of Justin Timberlake's success has him down in the dumps. Still, we can't help but feel a little bad for Fatone. Anyone got a smiley face T-shirt we can borrow?

George Clooney Descends Into Payne

George Clooney Luca Ghidoni/Getty Images

George Clooney is making a Sideways move. The creator of Sideways, meanwhile, is making a George Clooney move.

The star is teaming up with Sideways' Oscar-winning writer-director Alexander Payne for The Descendants, a no doubt Academy-baiting dramedy due out in 2010.

Per Variety, the film (Payne's first since 2004's wine-soaked statue collector) will follow a wealthy landowner who, in attempt to keep his family together, picks up sticks with his two daughters on a quest to find his wife's new lover.

The hard part will be getting the audience to believe anyone would leave Clooney in the first place.

Cameras roll this February in Hawaii (it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it).

Meanwhile, honing his craft in a much less idyllic locale is Owen Wilson, who's looking to reprise his dog-day success of Marley & Me by voicing the titular canine Marmaduke in Fox's live-action/CGI adaptation of the long-running comic strip.

The film, which also features the pipes of Fergie, Steve Coogan, George Lopez, Damon and Marlon Wayans, is due out next June.

Katie Holmes Gets Romantic…With Anna Paquin?!

Katie Holmes KMM-Pare-Merino/X17online.com

Katie Holmes is The Romantics lead.

Mrs. Tom Cruise will temporarily cease being joined at the hip hands with her hubby to replace fellow raven-haired thesp Liv Tyler in the increasingly star-studded indie flick. (Tyler left the film for undisclosed reasons and no, we don't know what they are.)

Per Variety, the movie centers around eight college friends who reunite for the wedding of coed pal Anna Paquin. Holmes plays the maid-of-honor who also happens to have had a romantic past with the groom (Josh Duhamel). Malin Akerman, Elijah Wood, Adam Brody and Jeremy Strong also star.

The Romantics, which in a bit of creative contracting Holmes will also boss people around on executive produce, starts shooting this week in New York City.

Now all they need is a killer soundtrack and we're looking at The Big Chill: The Next Generation.

Tom Cruise and the Search for the Great Pumpkin

Whether he's playing an auto racer, fighter pilot or profane movie executive, he's simply the best.

So you gotta believe Cruise is going to be looking for the most awesome potential Jack o' Lantern there is for his Halloween honeys Katie Holmes and daughter Suri, right?

Or...maybe he'll just get whichever one Suri picks. Hard to say.

But if you're like us, you enjoy looking at celebs as they choose large orange gourds, so let's get to it, shall we?

Yeehaw! Matt Damon, Josh Brolin Get Gritty

Matt Damon, All the Pretty Horses, Josh Brolin, No Country For Old Men, Jeff Bridges, Wild Bil Columbia Pictures, Miramax Pictures, United Artists

Matt Damon's family emergency appears to have found a happy resolution—and not a moment too soon. After the briefest of Damon dry spells, he's back to fulfilling all of our paparazzi-catching, movie-acquiring needs.

Wasting no time getting back in the saddle, the Oscar winner is in talks with Josh Brolin—who knows from both Academy Award nominations and westerns himself—to star in a reimagining of the iconic 1969 cowboy flick True Grit (which, incidentally, earned John Wayne his only Oscar).

According to Variety, the duo would star alongside Jeff Bridges in the Joel and Ethan Coen flick. Should discussions turn to done deals, it would mark a reunion for everyone but Damon; the brothers Coen previously toiled with Bridges the Dude on The Big Lebowski and clocked hours with Brolin on the Academy lovefest No Country for Old Men.

The remake would follow Damon and Bridges joining forces with a teenage girl to track down her father's killer; Brolin would play the bad guy. The testosterone-heavy flick is due out in late 2010.

Jess Alba: Pumpkin Pickin' Made Perfectly Precious

Jessica Alba RIV/Fame Pictures

When you've already got your Halloween costume ready to go, what else is a girl to do? Get a pumpkin, of course!

Which is just what little Honor did on Thursday as she hit up a Hollywood patch in search of a glorious gourd—well, with a little help from her mommy, Jessica Alba.

While we're not really sure what size pumpkin Honor ended up with, seeing how she had her sleeves rolled up and all, you can definitely tell the kid meant business and probably didn't settle for anything too tiny.
