Move over High School Musical there’s a new kid in town!

Premiering next week on Fox, Glee is set to take dance to a whole new level.

E! News Weekend talked to Calgary native Cory Monteith this week in Los Angeles and he told us it wasn’t easy preparing for his new role.

Cory was never a big fan of dancing in general. More of a “lean on the bar” kind of guy, but after going through the boot-camp-like workouts for the show he’s ready to show fans that just maybe he can capture some of that Fred Astaire magic…but don’t hold your breath!

Star Trek is out this week! Nerds, Geeks, Fan Boys…everyone rejoice!

JJ Abram’s genius will not disappoint and it’s the must-watch movie of the summer (even though it’s only May). 

I sat down with Bruce Greenwood while he was in Toronto and we talked about everything Trek, but a couple of really cool stories stood out: Leonard Nimoy’s first day on set with 300 extras giving him a standing ovation and JJ keeping the set calm, cool and collected by dropping down some MC beats!

Well not really...but the 19-year-old Torontonian was back in her home and native land this past week to shoot a music video for Our Lady Peace!

Sundance

Duncan Jones’ Moon premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. E! News Weekend caught up with the director Jones, and star Sam Rockwell just before they were about to screen it.

Jones was, of course, a bit nervous. This was his directorial debut, but as we now know the response was fantastic and the movie was picked up by Sony Pictures Classic.

When E! chatted with Rockwell he told us that he is tired of seeing “pretty people” in sci-fi movies. "It’s time to get back to the blue collar type characters that he loved watching growing up."

E! News Weekend caught up with Lars Ulrich at South by Southwest to talk about everything from Guitar Hero to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Metallica will be gracing the screen in digital form on March 29th when their new Guitar Hero game hits shelves. This is the same week the band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Metallica will be inducted by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea on April 4th.

So far there have been no blow-ups in the volatile world of Metallica, and Lars told us he’s having a really great year. Check out the interview in the video above!

Juno nominated singer, Lights, hits up South by Southwest this past week, rocking out a set that included a lot of new material.

In fact, the Toronto singer told E! News Weekend her new album is already done! It will be hitting store shelves in August. We asked what the title might be but she’s keeping closed lip but says it will be one of the song titles.

Lights will be in Vancouver next Sunday for the JUNO Awards and feels honoured to be in a category with all these very talented ladies.
