Jackson's Not Quite Star-Filled Tribute Postponed to 2010

Well, that didn't quite work out the way it was supposed to.

The big-on-talk but short-on-delivery Michael Jackson tribute concert scheduled to take place in Vienna later this month has been postponed to June 2010 and relocated to London, with Jermaine Jackson blaming the move on scheduling conflicts with would-be headliners.

Organizers had been taken to task for its less than all-star lineup—25 acts were promised, only 13 had been named and arguably the three biggest, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige and Natalie Cole, weren't exactly locked in.

"Numerous stars were just not able to change their schedules to make a live appearance at the Vienna event possible," Jackson said this morning.

"Now we have eight months to put this monumental show together and not just eight weeks."

And eight months, the theory goes, can cajole a lot of superstar participation.

Some say he was happy, healthy and raring to go. Some now say he was too frail to make it happen.

Either way, when Michael Jackson died last month, millions were left wondering what might have been if his comeback concert series in London, which was due to kick off tonight at O2 Arena, had gone on as scheduled.

Sadly, instead of covering the opening night of said spectacle, all we've got is an image of the hundreds of fans who laid flowers and candles outside the AEG Live-owned venue Monday in tribute to the fallen star.

Those who gathered to miss the King of Pop as a cohesive unit watched clips of Jackson performances on a large screen set up outside. Some fans danced, some scrawled written missives to lay beside the votives and bouquets.

It was a poor substitute for what was supposed to go on today, but it was all they were going to get.

Lindsay's Elle of a Photoshoot Ends in Jewel Heist

Lindsay Lohan's latest headline-grabbing exploit is a real gem.

British police are investigating the disappearance of roughly $410,000 worth of jewelry, which went missing earlier this month after a London photo shoot featuring the star.

Scotland Yard—not to mention LiLo's reps—was quick to deny that Lohan was a suspect, but confirmed that everyone present for the picture session, held June 6 for Elle UK, will be questioned.

The baubles—a necklace and diamond earrings loaned to the magazine by Dior, were reported AWOL two days after the shoot—just as Lohan made her way back stateside.

If nothing else, this oughta help ease her little boredom problem.

Rival Promoter Sues to Stop Jacko's London Run

Michael Jackson Nationalphotogroup.com

Michael Jackson is about to learn the hard way that family always comes first. Or at least it does when there's a multimillion-dollar contract involved.

AllGood Entertainment, for which things ironically are going pretty badly, followed through on its threats and filed a federal lawsuit against the erstwhile King of Pop today. The promoter alleges that Jackson is in serious and costly breach of his contract by daring to book a string of solo concerts before making good on his promise to participate in a long-gestating reunion show with the Jackson 5.

Problems arose earlier this year, when Jackson defied critics and ignited fans by announcing he had teamed with AEG for a series of concerts in London this summer. The hitch: His contractually obligated Jackson 5 show is not scheduled to take place until summer 2010.

The peeved promoter is seeking a minimum of $20 million in damages from Jackson, his manager and AEG, and is seeking to stop the 50-night engagement from taking place.

Apparently AllGood is unaware that hell hath no fury like rabid, international Jacko fans scorned.

Charlize, Elle, Sienna, Sting, Woody Join British Food Fight

There's something fishy going on at one of London's most swanky celeb restaurants: the stars are aligning to boycott until an endangered fish is removed from its sushi menu.

Elle Macpherson, Sienna Miller, Alicia Silverstone, Charlize Theron, Sting and Trudie Styler, Ted Danson, Woody Harrelson and Stephen Fry are among the 31 famous folks who have signed a petition vowing not to patronize Nobu London until it stops serving the near-extinct bluefin tuna.

According to the petition, the stars say they can no longer "dine with a clear conscience" at the establishment.

"As customers and fans of Nobu we strongly feel that bluefin tuna must be completely removed from your menu due to its perilous position as an extremely endangered animal," the statement reads.

"Nobu is a restaurant we all love, a world leader in sushi with a fantastic reputation and enormous influence. If Nobu took a definitive stand on this issue it could make a critical difference."
