True Blood Stud: Why I Always Take My Clothes Off

Doesn't matter what's going on in HBO's hit vampire series, Aussie actor Ryan Kwanten always seems to be in a state of undress

Ryan Kwanten can't seem to keep his shirt on.

At least when he's playing Jason Stackhouse on HBO's True Blood.

"The moment Jason gets a little heated, whether it be the sexual realm or the competitive realm," Kwanten tells me, "the clothes start to come off."

Like during a scene in the second season (premiering Sunday) in which Jason and new frenemy Luke (Wes Brown) compete in a game of flag football at a camp run by antivampire sect Fellowship of the Sun…

"Jason was pushed," Kwanten explains "Luke tackled him a little too hard, so he thought he'd go Rambo-style and deal with the business at hand."

Kwanten also acknowledges there may be a bit of a homoerotic vibe going on between Jason and Luke, but stops short of revealing if anything more will come from it as the season unfolds.

"I know, there are the intricacies and the subtext behind it," Kwanten says, "but it truly is an arch-nemesis type of situation."

Meanwhile, Kwanten says he was one of the last to learn of costars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer's real-life romance.

"Ten months into their relationship, Stephen actually came up to me and said, 'We're dating,'" Kwanten remembers. "I said, 'Oh, that's fantastic! I always thought you guys got on really well.'"

Adds Kwanten, "[Stephen] said the only reason he was telling me is because I was probably the last person to know."

Make sure to come here this weekend for more True Blood scoop from Sam Trammell, who plays Sookie's boss, bar owner Sam Merlotte.
