Mira Sorvino's Beautiful Girl
Mighty mom Mira Sorvino has given birth to a beautiful girl.
The Oscar winner, 37, and husband, Chris Backus, 23, welcomed their first child on Nov. 3 in Los Angeles.
The baby weighed in at 8 pounds and was said to be doing well, as were the new parents, per Sorvino's publicist. No other details were available, and the couple chose not to release their daughter's name.
Sorvino and Backus, a waiter and aspiring actor, reportedly met through friends in August 2003 at a charades party.
"He walked into the kitchen looking for silverware," Sorvino recalled recently to People magazine. "We saw each other and something made us want to talk to each other more."
After forging their initial bond over forks, the couple went on to wed in a private ceremony in June. It was the first trip down the aisle for both.
Sorvino was linked in the past to Quentin Tarantino, whom she dated from 1996 to 1998, and Olivier Martinez, while Backus was previously attached to...his prom date?
Though her publicist denied rumors that Sorvino was pregnant at the time of her nuptials, well, um, you do the math.
The Romy and Michele's High School Reunion alum is the daughter of Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas). She broke into the Hollywood scene in her twenties, with roles on Guiding Light and Swan's Crossing.
Sorvino's big break came when Woody Allen cast her in 1995's Mighty Aphrodite, the role for which she went on to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Other credits include Beautiful Girls , The Replacements Killers and Summer of Sam.
Her most recent big-screen appearance was alongside Robin Williams in the sci-fi thriller The Final Cut, which met with mixed reviews at the box office.
Next up for Sorvino is a role in the action flick Instant Karma, alongside Pierce Brosnan, The Rock, Gene Wilder and Burt Reynolds, among others.
Backus' past credits consist solely of a guest turn on a February episode of Will & Grace, per the Internet Movie Database. As of now, it looks like he'll have plenty of time to devote himself to being a hands-on dad.
