The actress happened to be turning 37 the same day she sat down with E! News' Jason Kennedy, who surprised her with cupcakes.

Her birthday wish? For costar Matthew McConaughey not to sing to her!

Matthew McConaughey always did have a flair for the international.

The laid-back actor is flexing his book smarts with Exchange Student, a big screen comedy McConaughey will not only star in—albeit in a non-lead role—but also produce.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the non-romantic comedy will follow two college exchange students, one who embarks from the U.S. and one who travels to it. Both have opposite experiences during their respect study abroads, with one of them going "off the rails."

The project is aiming for a Wes Anderson vibe, though the indie auteur is not connected to the film. (His quota of drawling Texas boy coworkers is apparently already full.)

Also filling their plates with new projects: DJ AM, Adrian Grenier, Sofia Coppola, Ricky Gervais' new leading lady and—yes, they're still around—the Jonas Brothers.

We're not surprised to see Matthew McConaughey getting his active on, as he skate through the streets of Malibu. But we are a tad shocked to see him with his shirt on. Thankfully, at least one member of the McConaughey crew is upholding the family's topless tradition: his dog, Foxy.

Matthew McConaughey's surfing brethren may have the actor's back, but that doesn't mean they have forgotten how to stand up for themselves.

Two wave enthusiasts accused of roughing up a paparazzo whom they felt was crowding McConaughey on a Malibu beach pleaded not guilty Monday to misdemeanor battery charges, Malibu Deputy District Attorney Bill Clark tells E! News.

Skylar Peak and Philip Hildebrand are accused of shoving shutterbug Richid Altmbareckouhammou and throwing the photog's camera into the ocean on June 21 when he showed up on their patch of sand to snap pics of a board-toting McConaughey.

Video of the incident showed more than just Peak and Hildebrand closing in on Altmbareckouhammou, but they were the only ones charged.

A pretrial hearing has been set for Jan. 14.

Levi McConaughey might end up being a bit of a challenge for his easy-going papa, Matt. After all, a parent's personality isn't a preview of what's in store for their kids'.

Which has us believing that little Levi is going to tap into some dormant genetic combo buried deep within the McConaughey DNA that will lead him into the analytical, logic-filled world of physics and the world around us. Levi will look at all things with wonder, curious about what's going on behind the scenes, anxious to discover what pulls the strings in all he sees.

For instance, at the beach, from the comfy vantage point of mama Camila's lap, he won't be caring about whether or not his surfer dad manages to ride in on a good set as much as he'll be watching the wave dad's trying to ride. "Whoa, what made it crash? What makes daddy able to stand up on it like that?" are just some of the thoughts that'll be running through his little toddler mind.

Can't wait to hear from Matty how awesome it feels to put an equation your kid made in school up on the fridge: "You know, it was awesome, man, watching the little guy just groove with his graphing calculator...He was just feelin' it. Love it, man...gotta live."

Jennifer Lopez may not have clocked the fastest time, but she and the other competitors at Sunday's 22nd Nautica Malibu Triathlon helped raise nearly $1 million for the Pediatric Cancer Research Program at Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles.

As reported earlier today, J.Lo turned in a seriously impressive 2 hours 23 minutes and 38 seconds and raised $125,000 on her own for the event, which was presented by Toyota.

The winner overall was Chris McCormack, while The Bachelor's Andy Baldwin won the celebrity bragging rights, if not a rose, with his time. Other stars who competed were Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, John Hamm, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Jon Cryer, Monique Coleman, Scott Foley and Anna Kournikova.

Wedding Planner costars Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey reunited on the shores of Malibu on Sunday morning.

The two were among the hundreds of participants at the annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which benefits Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program. 

The 39-year-old singer/actress finished the half-mile ocean swim, 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 28 seconds, according to People magazine.

Matthew McConaughey has a movie called Surfer, Dude coming out this weekend and while it doesn’t costar Kate Hudson, it does feature Matty-boy without a shirt on the entire time.

We met with him yesterday to talk about the movie, and, yeah, we mostly just wanted quotes about how baby Levi was destined to follow his father’s footsteps of shirtlessness, surfing and all-around chilled-out ‘tude. But we actually left feeling somewhat uplifted. It would be pretty awesome if he, like his mother, writes a motivational book. Actually, a video would probably be better, the Southern drawl is essential.

Now let’s get to the advice that kinda made us feel good for a second and will surely make its way down to Levi…
