Things just keep getting Harry-er at Hogwarts. In the moodier, scarier and more emotionally mature third installment of the bespectacled boy wizard's life, he squares off against werewolves, shapeshifters, a suspected murderer and, most frightening of all, puberty. Director Alfonso Cuar?n embraces the content of the darker story and the growth of the three leads (
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson,
Rupert Grint) and infuses this flick with a creepiness untapped in the earlier films.
His creative editing of the lengthy book will bother only the hardest of the hard-core Potterheads. Otherwise, Cuar?n has crafted a well-paced tween movie that feels modern, timeless, funny and frightening all at once. Easily the best
Potter film so far, you feel as if the magic is only just beginning.
