Prison Break: Guess Who's Coming Back for the Finale

Prison Break, Wentworth Miller Michael Desmond/FOX

The two-hour series finale of Prison Break airs Friday, May 15 on Fox, but we just got a copy of the episode and couldn't hold our excitement. A certain mystery guest is making a very important appearance in the finale, so important, everyone's lives depend on it.

Said guest may not have been a fan favorite at the time, but fans sure love this person now. By promise of death, we cannot tell you who returns. But suffice it to say that you'll be shocked because this person has been pretty dead for a while now.

This mystery person is not the only familiar face who returns though. Rockmond Dunbar, Amaury Nolasco and Danay Garcia also come back, along with a new FBI agent named Chris Franco, played by über-creepy Ethan Rom of Lost (aka William Mapother).

Now, we know what you're thinking: Tell us who the mystery person is! Sorry, we can't. But there are more important things happening in the finale you should be wondering about. Like, say, will Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) survive?

Fox canceled Prison Break a few weeks back, but as we speak, producers are casting and shooting two additional hours of the show.

What does that mean?

Are they finally creating that women's prison spin-off?

Is evil (but hot) Company babe Gretchen getting a spin-off?

Here's what we're hearing...

Why Did Prison Break Have To Die?

Prison Break, Wentworth Miller, Sarah Wayne Callies Richard Foreman/FOX

Wenty is leaving us.

For good.

As was announced last week, Prison Break ends forever this spring. That means no more crazy conspiracies, no more Michael and Sarah nooky, no more Scofield-Burrows brotherly love.

So with all the fan love for this show here in the States and around the world, what killed Prison Break? Exec producer Zack Estrin tells me exclusively why the end is nigh, and what we can expect from the final days of Michael and Linc...

Prison Break Is Ending

Wentworth Miller, Prison Break C. Hodes/FOX

It's official. Prison Break is coming to an end.

"Prison Break had a hell of a run, but the run has ended," Fox president Kevin Reilly just told reporters at the TV Critics Press Tour. "This will be the last year of the show."

The news was somewhat expected, given the four-year-old series' downturn in the ratings this season. However, according to Reilly, the decision was made from a creative standpoint. "The show has just played out. You get to a point creatively where you feel all the stories have been told, and you want to end strong and not gimp out in the end of the season."

So exactly how many more episodes will we get? And what about a movie?

Is Prison Break Ending?

PRISON BREAK, Wentworth Miller Richard Foreman/FOX

Could Fox be shutting the doors on Prison Break—without any plan for future escape?

The Hollywood Reporter says the series might be coming to an end, because word is there might be two more episodes this seaon, which could be an attempt to wrap up storylines and send Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell on their merry way.

So what is the real story? Is Prison Break really on the way out?

We've checked in with the network, the studio and inside sources for exactly where things stand...

Prison Twist Makes Sarah Lose Her Head Again

Prison Break Bill Matlock/FOX

Well, crap. Don't tell me they're lopping Sarah Wayne Callies' head off again on Prison Break.

"I got to [reading] the end of episode 15," she tells us, "and my head was kind of floating on a string."

Grrreat.

Thankfully, though, that was just a figure of speech, and Sarah's character, Dr. Sara Tancredi, is not once again losing her head. Whew! (Reminder: Her head was chopped off and put in a box last season, but it was revealed that wasn't really Sara.)

However, a major twist is going down, and it sounds like a show-changer.

And could it, um, involve a pregnancy?

Prison Break: Three Big Deaths Are Coming

Prison Break Bill Matlock/FOX

Ruh-roh.

Sources confirm exclusively that three characters will be dying very soon on Prison Break, and if you're going to believe lovely leading lady Sarah Wayne Callies, at least one of them will not be easy for the fans to take.

"We’re going to lose a couple of people, a couple of people we have loved from the beginning," she tells us exclusively. "And we’re very, very, very sorry to see go. And we may be starting to lose the one person none of us thought we could."

Ummm...If you're talking about Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield), Sarah, you'll need to give us (and millions of fans around the globe) a moment, a paper bag to breathe into and possibly some Valium 'cause we were under the assumption that men who are hot as fire are not killed off of TV shows!

To prevent widespread (and internal) panic, I have done some digging among sources and have this exclusive scoop on the upcoming deaths and shockers you must prepare yourself for...

Death Coming to Prison Break

Prison Break FOX

It's true. A Fox rep for Prison Break confirms to me that one (or two!) of the show's main characters will die in the season premiere, which airs Sept 1 at 8 p.m.—at least one actor is leaving the series for good.

So who is it? That is a secret producers desperately want to protect (and for good reason, 'cause it's a good surprise), but I can tell you that both of these potential dead bodies are in fact hot bodies, and will be missed. Feel free to post your theories and try to figure it out in the comments below.

Meanwhile, executive producer Zack Estrin gives us this exclusive look at two new characters who will be filling the shoes of the departed:

"We have a new character, known simply as Wyatt (Cress Williams), who is the Company guy who is trying to track them this year. He is the guy with the gun who is hot on our guys' tail. Because when the season begins, there is a cover story that our guys are placed into a SuperMax prison, and slowly but surely clues are coming out that they aren't in there-that they're up to something else maybe. This guy's job is to find out what they're really up to."

"Another new character is a hacker named Roland. Our team has learned to have some level of trust among each other, or at least they know everyone else's agenda, but this is a new guy they're forced to work with, and they're not sure how they feel about him, but they need his expertise in the technological stuff that our guys don't necessarily do."

I met James Hiroyuki Liao, who plays Roland, while on set last week and can tell you he's great in the role—and really gets under Michael and Lincoln's skin. Who doesn't love an Asian guy with a thick Brooklyn accent? Check back Monday for video of my interviews with all your P.B. faves!
