Get Your First Look at Psych's Special Bollywood-Episode Credits Sequence!
Oh Psych, you are so fabulous!
In honor of the upcoming Sept. 18 "Bollywood Homicide" episode, costarring Sendhil Ramamurthy, the creative types at Psych wrote a brand-new, Bollywood-themed version of the Psych theme song. The names of the actors have even been accurately translated into Hindi to give the credits that extra authenticity, and we have your exclusive first look at the whole shebang!
Psych has creatively reworked their credits twice before: one for Christmas and once for the telenovela episode. This update was cowritten by Psych creator Steve Franks and Anupam Nigam. Regular Psych director Jay Chandrasekhar helmed "Bollywood Homicide" and also guest stars in the episode, in which "A man seeks Shawn (James Roday) and Gus' (Dulé Hill) help to lift a curse on him that seems to put all of his girlfriends in mortal danger."

Psych: So Much Fun It Should Be Illegal
To celebrate the return of new episodes of Psych every Friday at 10 on p.m. USA Network, I talked to Steve Franks, creator and executive producer, and he was chock-full of delightful dish on Shawn (James Roday) and his lady-friend Juliet (Maggie Lawson), Shawn and his long-missing mom (Cybill Shepherd), and the continuing adventures of Gus, Lassie and the chief. ¡Detectives Psíquicos en Español!
Hey kids! Just wanted to let you know that you simply must tune in to tonight's all-new Psych—especially if you happen to be bilingual. ¿Por que? Because creator Steve Franks just emailed me the deets, and it's awesome!
The ep, "Lights, Camera...Homicidio," features a murder on the set of a telenovela, and according to Steve, includes "the finest broken Spanglish ever heard on television" and a new version of the theme song, done over in Spanish, all recorded by Steve's very own band.
How'd that go? Says Steve, "My vocal mastery of the dialect will amaze some and completely bewilder all others, and my friend and bandmate Tim's background vocals will cause everyone to ask the same thing: He really needed 28 takes to say four words? It's almost worth tuning in just for that. Also, if you catch any of the repeats of this episode through this week, they play the entire song over the end credits, which, I believe, becomes a symposium of how to sing multilingually."
Last but not least, and I am so TiVoing this, the episode will also run, dubbed in Spanish, on Telemundo at 11:30 p.m. I have already died of laughing too hard.
Check it out, for me and for Steve—especially if you've never tried Psych before—and then check back Monday in the chat for more Psych goodness!
