More from Watch with Kristin

Tragic though it is that Pushing Daisies is done, we'll always have the stars and creators, even if they're not working together.

For example, we can soon hear Kristin Chenoweth on Fox's Sit Down Shut Up or see her on David E. Kelley's new legal dramedy, and Swoosie Kurtz stops by Desperate Housewives in a few short weeks.

But what about Anna Friel, who played the show's lead female character, our beloved Charlotte Charles? What's the next stop on her career train?

Well, after facing offers for not one, not two, not three, but six TV-series pilots (including I, Claudia and Eastwick), we've learned that Anna Friel has made a choice about her future, and the winner is...

Dying to know where the Piemaker and his beloved Charlotte Charles will end up when Pushing Daisies comes to a close?

Join the club! But apparently ABC is in no hurry to give the fans closure.

Sources close to the Alphabet network tell me exclusively that the remaining episodes for Daisies will not air until—wait for it, ‘cause you're gonna have to—this summer.

And that's not all. It's the same case for those two other much-loved but recently canceled ABC series: Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money.

Yes, word is Daisies' final three episodes and Eli and DSM's final four won't air until June at the earliest.

According to insiders, the original plan was for the final three episodes of Daisies to begin airing last Wednesday, but ABC decided to air reruns of Scrubs instead.

And what you really won't want to hear is...

The Last Thing Pushing Daisies Needed? Last Night's Ratings

Pushing Daisies, LEE PACE ABC/DANNY FELD

If Pushing Daisies is on probation, it's pushing its luck.

Last night's episode averaged a series-low 4.86 million viewers, Nielsen estimates said, and pulled an all-time worst rating among adults 18-49.

Last Friday E! News reported that Pushing Daisies' performance in the next two weeks was "critical" to the survival of the ratings-challenged cult favorite.

There was good news for the show and its fans. And for that, Knight Rider is owed thanks.

ABC was quick to point out that Pushing topped its NBC time-slot rival for the first time in the all-important 18-49 demo. Overall, though, Pushing ran an anemic third in that race.

Elsewhere, CBS' Gary Unmarried (8.1 million) and the season finale of the CW's America's Next Top Model (4.8 million) pulled season highs, while CBS' Criminal Minds (15.8 million) drew the night's biggest crowd.

Is Pushing Daisies Really Dead?

If anyone knows anything about life after "death," it is ABC's Pushing Daisies.

So despite reports today in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety that it "may be on its deathbed," I can tell you that Daisies is not dead. At least not yet.

But the clock is ticking—with a loud, boisterous boom. And here's what ABC sources and executive producer Bryan Fuller tell me...

No, no, no. A thousand times no.

This is what I can tell you hundreds of panicked fans who have emailed in this evening after hearing a fast-spreading rumor that Pushing Daisies has been canceled.

I've just checked in with very reliable and high-placed sources connected to the show, who tell me that ABC has not yet told producers the fate of the series.

Still, there is some truth to the rumor going around...

Wicked Talk About Movies, Mr. Armani and the Gays

Kristin Chenoweth Dustin Snipes / Sharp Shot
More from Marc Malkin

Kristin Chenoweth wants the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked to be made pronto.

Why?

Because Chenoweth wants to play Glinda, the role she originated in the original Tony Award-winning show.

"I did create it," Chenoweth tells me. "I originated it. It would be hard for me not to want to do it...But they need to hurry up before I'm 45!" (She turned the big 4-0 last month.)

With or without the Wicked movie, Chenoweth is doing all right...
