Take that, NBC! TNT Picks Up Southland

The OC, Benjamin McKenzie Michael Desmond/FOX

Anyone who watched the final season of The OC knows that Benjamin McKenzie is a true (hot, sweaty and scantily clad) fighter.

And now, his new, much ballyhooed police drama Southland is living to fight another day.

A TNT rep just confirmed to us that the cable network has picked up NBC's not so sloppy seconds and will air Southland in the new year. The series, from ER's John Wells and also starring Regina King and Tom Everett Scott, received acclaim from critics and fans alike before NBC pulled the plug on production last month.

Starting Jan. 12, TNT will debut the six episodes of the sophomore season of Southland that never aired, along with seven episodes of the previously aired first season. It will air opposite Jay Leno in the 10 p.m. slot.

All this sounds pretty fantastic, but here's the crappy gray lining:

Spoiler Chat: OMG, Look Who's Hooking Up Next!

Chace Crawford, Blake Lively, Gossip Girl GIOVANNI RUFINO/THE CW

Hooray for the sexual Petri dish of prime time! Not only is Gossip Girl's much-buzzed-about threesome on the way (and yes, we have scoop on that, too), but sources are buzzing about a new core coupling on the way that many of you fans have been speculating about...

Is it Dan and Blair? Nate and Serena? Dorota and a new feather duster?

(Hmmm...That last one might be too hot for the CW.)

Oh yeah, and did we mention someone's going to die on Melrose Place...and on Dexter? Or how about the latest on Grey's, Glee and Modern Family?

It's all in our latest roundup of exclusive TV scoop...

This Just In: Summer Glau Joins Dollhouse

Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Summer Glau Jill Greenberg/FOX; Adam Taylor/FOX

Dollhouse: For those Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fans who are still hurt by its cancellation, you're about to jump for joy. Summer Glau is heading to Dollhouse this season, playing Bennett, a Dollhouse employee who shares a past with Echo (Eliza Dushku). Glau is recurring and joining the likes of Alexis Denisof, Jamie Bamber, Michael Hogan and Keith Carradine, who all guest star this season. Check out what former Battlestar Galactica star Tahmoh Penikett has to say about the reunion below.

Chuck: Superman is mentoring Chuck this season! Not literally, but Brandon Routh joins the cast in a multiepisode arc as Shaw, the new leader of the Intersect project. Look for the man of steel starting in the fourth episode. Could Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) be his Lois Lane?

90210: Meet Gia (Rumer Willis), the young, hot lesbian who joins the Blaze Newscast team, working with Silver, Navid and Adrianna. There are also some hot pics of the boys on the beach, but like Gia, we're not that interested.

Southland: NBC is pushing the sophomore drama back a month, now premiering Oct. 23 instead of its original date of Sept. 25. The network's excuse response is that it enables more marketing, but with Dollhouse growing into an unstoppable stunt-casting show, who'd want to go up against that premiere?

Leverage: TNT has renewed the Robin Hood-esque show for a third season of 15 episodes, which is slated to premiere next summer. While this summer's finale airs Sept. 9, the gang returns in the winter for the second half of the season.

What does the sexy Tahmoh have to say about the BSG cast reuniting? Click on to find out...

Chuck Decision Delayed for a Week or More

Chuck, Yvonne Strahovski, Zachary Levi NBC/Carin Baer

Chuck star Zachary Levi reveals to E! exclusively that NBC will not renew or cancel beloved spy dramedy Chuck for at least another week. Cast and crew had originally expected to hear before Monday's planned NBC "infront" presentation to advertisers.

When asked last night at an Eva Longoria-hosted charity event benefiting Children's Hospital Los Angeles about prospects for a third season of Chuck, Levi said, "I thought we were going to hear about it this Monday, because NBC's announcing a bunch of its schedule, but I just got an email from [Chuck executive producer] Josh Schwartz, and he said stay positive, [but] we're not going to find out on Monday. It could be another week or two. They're making their final tallies and decisions."

Chuck was the runner-up in E!'s 2009 Save One Show campaign and has been the focus of a vast Internet-based #savechuck campaign that has included Nerds candy mails-ins and a Subway "buy-in" demonstration.

So what's the holdup with the decision? Here's what Levi said about the NBC schedule right now:

Southland Cast Says Season Two Looking Positive

Southland, Arija Bareikis , Michael McGrady , Tom Everett Scott , Ben McKenzie , Regina King , Michael Cudlitz , Shawn Hatosy , Kevin Alejandro NBC Photo: Mitchell Haaseth

With only three episodes in the can, Southland has surprisingly done what no other new drama has achieved, which is hold on to its entire premiere audience past the pilot. A feat that is certainly difficult to achieve these days.

Those Southland cops have been hitting the streets hard, but that doesn't mean they don't have personal lives too. From their messed-up families to their abysmal love lives, these cops just can't catch a break.

The cast of Southland was on hand at the NBC Summer Press Day last week to tease new developments for their characters, along with their thoughts on a possible season two pickup.

Southland: Kevin Alejandro Takes It to the Streets

Southland, Kevin Alejandro Justin Lubin/NBC

Southland returns tonight for a second outing with its an absurdly well-qualified cast of awesome actors (Michael Cudlitz, Arija Bareikis, Ben McKenzie, Shawn Hatosy, Tom Everett Scott and, as if that weren't enough, Regina King!). But one of our absolute faves from their lineup of standouts is Kevin Alejandro.

Most of you probably remember him as Hilda's ex and Justin's dad Santos from Ugly Betty, but he's been on a ton of other shows, and he brings both heft and hotness to every single part.

We caught up with him for the scoop on his latest role, playing a police detective on Southland...
