DWTS's Newest Offscreen Duo: Shawn and Steve-O?

We don't usually approve of 17-year-olds hanging with 34-year-old Jackasses, but at the Young Hollywood Awards sponsored by Sebastian, we could make an exception. We sassed with Dancing With the Stars champ Shawn Johnson and her competitor Steve-O, and the two babes had nothing but über-cutesy sibling-esque love for one another.
Don't worry, this ain't another Karina and Maksim type coupling!
Steve-O's presenting your award tonight for Best Young Hollywood Athlete. Do your parents approve of you hanging with a Jackass?
Shawn: They love him! He's so sweet, he's got the biggest heart. Big teddy bear. He was so much fun. He was like a big brother to me.
How'd you go from gymnastics to reality TV fame?
[Dancing with the Stars] was my favorite show that I ever watched, I watched every season. I was quoted in a magazine saying I loved it, so they called me and asked, "Do you wanna be on it?" And I went, "Oh my God!"
Us, too: OMG!
We next spoke to Shawn's "big bro" Steve-O, and the recovering addict told us the squeaky-clean-seeming ballroom show is totally wretched for keeping clean…
Any advice for Young Hollywood, particularly Shawn Johnson? She just called you her big brother.
Steve-O: Aw, what a sweetheart. She's a good friend. I think she's got a good head on her shoulders and I don't have to give her too much advice. It's important to separate what you do from who you are. I had my identity wrapped up in being this famous guy, and ultimately when you reach that point that everything is going downhill, you don't want that to be what your life is all about.
What did you learn, besides ballroom dancing, from being on the show?
I think when I get into a really stressful situation, Dancing with the Stars taught me how to lighten up and relax and not take myself too seriously.
Are you currently in rehab?
I'm in recovery. Rehab implies treatment, and I'm not in treatment anymore.
Did being on the show help your recovery?
No! It was tough. It made it really tough. I'm really glad to have made it through and not get drunk or stoned. Now I've been able to decompress and go back into my program. I feel good today.
Thanks, Steve-O!
And we're sure it was tough getting there, like there's any chance a bunch of flamboyant dancers and trashy actors wouldn't end up throwing a giant boozy fete every night!
