Everything Must Go for Will Ferrell

No, the comic actor isn't talking about his last couple of movie roles.

Will Ferrell has signed on to star in the indie film Everything Must Go, according to Variety. Go is being written and directed by Dan Rush, who has directed commercials before this, his first feature.

Based on a story by the late Raymond Carver, the film is about a man who loses his job and then finds his wife has kicked him out and tossed all his stuff on the front lawn.

His response? Yard sale.

Sounds promising, and we can only guess that a quality low-budget movie based on the work of a great American writer (who also provided the source material for Robert Altman's Short Cuts) might be the place for Ferrell to show off his considerable talents after Land of the Lost.

Will Ferrell Expecting Baby Boy Number Three!

Someday Old School's Will Ferrell will need a new school successor, and lucky for us, he's got his own little brood to choose from.

The former Saturday Night Live funnyman and wife Viveca Paulin, 40, are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their third child, a baby boy, reports People.

Their next son—who will undoubtedly continue the tradition of a unique first name beginning with the letter 'M'— is due to join big brothers Magnus Paulin, 5, and Mattias Paulin, 2, in January.

Fresh off of his Tony nominated Broadway show, You're Welcome America - A Final Night with George W. Bush, Ferrell, 42, is currently working on a slew of films, including the action comedy The Other Guys with Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson.

Alec Baldwin Plays with Jimmy Fallon's Ugly "Look"

Would you listen to Jimmy Fallon play a third time?

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon offered up another round of his "Let Us Play with Your Look" segment last night. The first installment featured Will Ferrell reliving his Mugatu days, and last night had Alec Baldwin covering a poor girl in powder.

But the guests aren't the problem with this sketch.

Each time, the bit begins, expectations rise. Fallon in an all-white spandex suit and a blonde bob wig is funny! But then he starts singing, and singing, and singing. Farewell funny, hello migraine.

But maybe that's just us. What say you?

This Just In: Good News for Will Ferrell!

Why does Will Ferrell still rule? Why was Bret Michaels not clotheslined in vain? And what solid did Burn Notice do for Jon and Kate Gosselin?

The answers—and more questions—in this week's TV ratings quiz:

1. Is there really an upside to starring in the "first bomb of summer?" No. But Land of the Lost isn't Ferrell's only new vehicle. (Just the only one that cost a reputed $100 million…) The premiere of his Man vs. Wild Arctic special averaged 4 million viewers, more than any other cable reality show last week save Jon & Kate Plus 8.

Killer Hangover Can't Quite Take Down Up

The Hangover, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms Warner Bros.

Who does Zach Galifianakis think he is—Ed Asner?

The box-office year of Kevin James (alternately titled, "Movie Stars Not Necessarily Required") continued unabated this weekend, with the Galifianakis, um, graced The Hangover very nearly unseating the Asner-voiced Up with a killer $43.3 million, per studio estimates.

Asner being Anser, and not, say Russell Crowe, remained on top, with his Pixar pic scoring another $44.2 million.

Will Ferrell's Land of the Lost, the weekend's lone new star vehicle entry, sputtered like one: third-place finish, disastrous $19.5 million debut.

Land of the Lost Declared 'First Bomb of Summer'

Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride, Land of the Lost Universal Pictures

Land of the Lost debuted with an estimated $7 million Friday, Exhibitor Relations tweeted today, prompting the box-office tracking firm to pronounce the $100 million Will Ferrell extravaganza "the first bomb of summer."

The new guy comedy The Hangover and the Pixar holdover Up stayed well clear of the wreckage, with each angling for a big $45 million weekend, Exhibitor Relations said. The Hangover was Friday's No. 1 movie, grossing an estimated $16.5 million.

A Ferrell-esque $30 million opening had been expected of Land of the Lost, the redo of the dinosaur-driven 1970s kids' series.

Had been.

Will Ferrell Braves the Wild

Loading...

"The more I talk about him, the more I realize I hate that man. Yeah, no one likes him. Awful, awful human being."

Or so Will Ferrell says he feels about Man vs. Wild adventurer Bear Grylls, who let the Land of the Lost star brave the snow of northern Sweden with him for the June 5 episode of his Discovery Channel series.

While we know that, over the course of their journey, Ferrell traverses the icy terrain in handmade snowshoes, hunts for food and drinks his own pee, the above clip focuses largely on how the actor made it on and off the helicopter that delivered him to his destination.

Let's just say, repeated cries of "Mommy!" were involved.

"When you're hanging from a ladder off a helicopter 600 feet in the air—that exceeds your expectations," Ferrell mused afterward.

So far, our expectations of Ferrell's wilderness prowess have been met to a tee.

Rise 'n' Shine: Jon & Kate + $5 - a Thank You Note

Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin Brad Barket/Getty Images

•  If you thought all the Jon & Kate Plus 8 drama was over since the show premiered, think again. Today's latest insight involves Kate Gosselin only allowing Jon to spend $5 a day (we're guessing that made some lousy dates for alleged mistress Deanna Hummel) and not even writing a thank you note when someone gave her a van in which to haul those eight kids. We didn't say the story was getting any better.

•  Rapper Asher Roth didn't want Lindsay Lohan jumping onstage during his show, probably because he saw the video of her flail routine with Lily Allen.

•  After this story, everyone is going to want to follow in Mariah Carey's footsteps and perform in Turkey.

•  Oh, the things Katy Perry would do to John Mayer...

•  Katherine Heigl has a new diva rumor that offers zero insight as to whether or not she'll be on Grey's Anatomy next season, so we don't really care.

•  Dear Will Ferrell: Your special sunscreen may scare the kiddies away from our beach blankets, but that could be a good thing. Seriously, though, these are awesome. Love, Rise 'n' Shine

Will Ferrell Brings the Funny on Conan's First Tonight Show

They say leprechauns bring good luck—time will tell if a comedian appearing as a perpetually stripping leprechaun can serve the same purpose.

Conan O'Brien will test that theory when he welcomes longtime friend of Late Night Will Ferrell as the first guest on the brand-spanking new the Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien June 1.

Ferrell was a surprise special guest on O'Brien's final Late Night back in February and was a frequent guest on the old show.

O'Brien's Tonight Show reign will be also ushered in with help from initial musical guest Pearl Jam.

The host himself will pay forward the favor on May 29, when he will serve as the final guest for soon-to-be predecessor Jay Leno, when the chinned one signs off from the Tonight Show.

Rate-a-Trailer: Has Will Ferrell Totally Lost It?

Loading...

This should be a no-brainer.

Land of the Lost wasn't exactly great television, but it was unforgettable. The 1970s Sid & Marty Krofft series about a father and his two kids plunged though a portal thingie into a strange new world had a low-budget charm, not to mention an undeniable theme song, bug-eyed Sleestaks and a hirsute primitive boy named Cha-Ka.

Add in Will Ferrell and this should be pure hilarity, right? Maybe. The trailer looks like it replaced the series' strengths with amped-up summer movie cliché: high-concept gobbledegook, marauding CG monsters and a sackful of boob, crotch and Matt Lauer jokes.

So is your idea of a summery good time Ferrell, Danny McBride and Anna Friel in a bleak wasteland, or will this be an autumn rental? You tell us.

Will vs. Wild: Ferrell Survives Urine Hangover

Will Ferrell, Bear Grylls, Man Vs. Wild Discovery Channel

It's nice to know Bear Grylls had someone to snuggle up with when he got to Sweden.

For an upcoming episode of the popular Discovery Channel series Man vs. Wild, Grylls invited another intrepid adventurer to join him in exploring the Swedish hinterlands—funnyman Will Ferrell.

The duo kicked it old-school as they braved subzero temperatures, jumped out of a helicopter, rappeled down a frozen waterfall, fashioned snowshoes out of tree saplings and hunted for food in the icy forest.

And, although we figured Ferrell had done this on a dare already, Grylls showed the star of the upcoming Land of the Lost how to drink his own urine. Apparently it went great with the reindeer eyeballs.

"To be able to participate in an episode of Man vs. Wild was a thrill of a lifetime, even though I did get urine-drunk, which is sad," feral, er, Ferrell said.

Added Grylls: "Will did an amazing job in subzero, very unforgiving conditions. He trusted me when it mattered and we survived...And he has definitely had an adventure! He should be very proud of how he performed."

Ferrell's Scandinavian sojourn will air the first week of June on Discovery. Not coincidentally, Land of the Lost hits theaters June 5.

Rise 'n' Shine: Paris Hilton Gets All Wrapped Up

Paris Hilton Fame Pictures

•  Paris Hilton took a break from making out with Doug Reinhardt to get all bondage-y for some photo shoot. We're just wondering if Lady Gaga knows her sunglasses are missing.

•  Just in case you were wondering, Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston are not tying the knot. She was just trying to be Koi about their relationship.

•  Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are trying to keep it together and work through their issues, which are vast and listed here.

•  The jumpsuit trend made a splash at the Hannah Montana: The Movie premiere last night, especially among the Suite Life on Deck ladies. However, Debby Ryan's ought to be thrown overboard while Brenda Song's sent her straight to first class.

•  Poor Bear Gryllis is going to have to survive a whole different kind of wild when he teams up with Will Ferrell!

•  Dear Malia and Sasha Obama: Yeah, we were flabbergasted by Miley's power trip as well. Love, Rise 'n' Shine
