The world has once again been roiled by not one, but two young-love breakups, the end of Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid's respective relationships revealing themselves in quick succession this week.
So not only are there two less couples to get all #goal-y over on social media, but the splits occurred within the same squad.
But while those two ladies and their circle of friends are among the most successful twenty-somethings in the entertainment world, there's a fair amount of upheaval among them when it comes to romance.
And though Gigi and Taylor are understandably bonding and, according to a source, "confiding in each other" in this crummy time, it's Kendall Jenner who's been helping Gigi really shake it off.
Quite literally!
Both Kendall and Gigi were Snapchattin' and Instagrammin' away from West Hollywood last night, and they looked to be having a ball along with fellow It Girl Hailey Baldwin. Which, sometimes, is what a girl needs instead of a rehash session, as therapeutic as a mutual teardown with a similarly lovelorn pal sounds.
Then we realized that, for all the relationship drama and torrid headlines that have afflicted Kendall's circle… Kendall herself has been the calm island in a turbulent sea of breakups and makeups.
How does she do it?!
It's not as though Kendall hasn't been linked to her own who's who list of eligible fellows, from NBA stars to Justin Bieber to Harry Styles. But somehow she remains untouched by any messiness. The biggest rumor lately was that she was in a relationship after Selena Gomez (one of her dear pals who knows from drama) said on a U.K. radio show in March, "Taylor is not single, Gigi is not single, neither is Kendall."
Of course, when Selena said that Taylor had been dating Calvin Harris for a year and Gigi and Zayn Malik had just about passed the four-month mark. But relationship statuses can change in an hour, let alone in two and half months.
Yet what is still true is that Kendall is single and singularly focused on work, her face peeking up this month from the cover of Harper's Bazaar, just a couple months after Vogue devoted an entire insert to the E! star and her rabid social media following.
It's not as if Taylor, Gigi and Selena do have time for drama, but Kendall seems to be the one who utterly refuses to make time for it, the 20-year-old keeping her plate full with photo shoots, family time and, of course, hanging out with friends.
Meanwhile, you never know what's what with her pals.
Gigi and Zayn are on the rocks, though we've been told that a reconciliation is entirely possible. Taylor and Calvin have split. Hailey has been engaged in a rather complicated-sounding relationship Justin Bieber, and though she went out to dinner with Drake after getting cozy with him at the rapper's Memorial Day pool party, we're told she's "still very much in love" with the Biebs.
Selena, however, seems finally removed from the long arms and even longer memories of Jelena shippers, but she recently made headlines for looking cuddly in a Vegas club with pal Orlando Bloom. But they are just friends, and Bloom is still dating Katy Perry, a chum of Selena-but-not-Taylor.
Kendall is also friendly with Bella Hadid, who took a short break from longtime boyfriend The Weeknd toward the end of last year—but they've looked closer than ever since the Grammys, when they made for one of the night's most stunning couples.
Last but not least, there's Kendall's best friend of all—sister Kylie Jenner.
Pages upon pages have been written about Kylie's on-again and now seemingly off-for-good relationship with Tyga, and all of the 18-year-old's male friends, particularly the rapper PartyNextDoor, are under the microscope as the Internet searches for the burgeoning beauty mogul's next serious suitor.
But there's Kendall, going along and enjoying herself—at Coachella, at clubs, on yachts, on set, in the backyard—looking as if she's never lost a wink of beauty sleep in her life worrying about some boy.
She also just barely ever talks about such things in public, and we doubt that's because her interviewers never ask. So not only does Kendall leave people guessing, she never gives them that much to speculate on in the first place.
"It's all a made-up world if you think about it," she told the U.K.'s Sunday Times in May 2015. "Social media, everything, this interview, everything. It's not real. It's pretty crazy."
It's her ambition that's about as real as it gets.
Talking about what she's passionate about career-wise, Kendall said in her Vogue supplement in March, "I could have done a lot of things, but I chose to be this baby businesswoman."
Who says you can't learn valuable life lessons from a 20-year-old?
