Mindy Lahiri keeps up with all the latest trends, so naturally she'll be playing Pokemon Go when The Mindy Project returns for its fifth season. And her experience with the game is exactly what people are fearing the most: disastrous.
The Mindy Project executive producers Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton told reporters at Television Critics Association summer press tour panel that Mindy has definitely been playing the game. Well, at least until she fell into the reflecting pool at the 9/11 memorial and was banned from the Manhattan monument.
"We as a staff have been playing Pokemon Go," Warburton confessed.
They also shared a few more things we can look forward to when the series returns to Hulu for its 16-episode fifth season:
-More high-concept episodes: Both Kaling and Warburton loved the Sliding Doors episode with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. "We're going to do a couple more things like that where we get to stretch the form a little bit," Warburton shared.
-New guest stars: The new faces will include Bryan Greenberg as a pediatric nurse, Rebecca Rittenhouse as a new doctor in the practice and Nasim Pedrad as a pediatrician to the stars.
-A choice: The season premiere is called "Decision 2016," but it has nothing to do with the presidential election and everything to do with Mindy's dating life and the season four cliffhanger. "We owed it to our audeince to answer it pretty quickly when we come back," Warburton said.
-More of your old favorites: While Chris Messina will recur as Danny this season rather than appear full-time, Kaling said we'll also see more of Mindy's old flames, including BJ Novak in a new arc.
The Mindy Project season five will debut Oct. 4 on Hulu.
