Watch: How Well Do "Grey's Anatomy" Stars Know Medical Terms?

Well that wasn't any fun at all.

Over the past few seasons, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) has become one of our favorite doctors at Grey Sloan, and so the aftermath of him attacking DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) was just a bad time for everybody, including us.

Alex refused to confess to anyone but Meredith, and believed he had beaten up a guy who was about to rape Jo (Camilla Luddington). In reality, that was not the case at all, and Alex refused to listen to Jo's explanation. Instead, he insulted her, throwing her messed up childhood in her face and saying that by asking him to marry her, he was asking for something she couldn't give him. So Jo planned to just leave, until Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) showed up.

Stephanie got the whole story, about how DeLuca was just trying to keep Jo safe, and relayed it to Meredith, who desperately wanted it to not be true. But because Meredith is actually an ethical person, she knew it was true, and told Alex. So...Alex nearly killed a guy who definitely didn't deserve it, and now he knows he did that, instead of just thinking he saved Jo from an assault.

So it was all a mess, and things definitely had to get worse before they can hopefully get better.

Grey's Anatomy Season 13: Is Alex the New Meredith?

Just as Meredith went to Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and told her everything, Karev turned himself in, and was promptly arrested for assault. Mer then basically dumped Riggs by telling him she didn't feel the things he thought she did, and then went to visit Alex in jail, where they faced the fact that adults are apparently supposed to own up to their stupid mistakes.

He's pretty sure he'll never step foot in Grey Sloan again, and we're pretty sure we'd be very upset if that were true.

In other news, April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) named their baby Harriet, but somehow April's struggles with her former mother-in-law seem just about as unimportant as Maggie's crush on Riggs right now.

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
