It's hardly a secret that Coldplay's resident songwriter has a way with words. But since Chris Martin so rarely speaks out about his personal life—specifically his marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow—we were both shocked and, well, aww'd when he broke his radio silence over the weekend.

In a sitdown on CBS Sunday Morning with his bandmates, who had gathered, ostensibly, to discuss their forthcoming album, the conversation eventually made its way to Martin's hush-hush family life.

And after Martin readily compared himself to Po from Kung Fu Panda, the leap to more familial topics was a pretty easy one to make. So what'd the notoriously private frontman have to say about his Gooptastic wife?

Well, the interviewer wasted no time getting right into the heart of the matter, asking Chris if it was true that he'd only ever had one serious relationship.

"Right, I'm in it," he replied, going on to admit that his relationship history (or lack thereof) was "weird."

"It is a big leap. What, from being a loser to going out with an Oscar winner? It's a giant leap. Let's face it, it's like winning the lottery. I was happy to make it."

Short and sweet. And exactly the sort of admissions we shouldn't get used to hearing.

"We still just try and keep that whole thing quiet," he said of his marriage. "Well, up til now, yeah."

He did speak out a bit more on how his life as a family man has affected his work, saying that being a father has "made it more focused."

"And you have a purpose. I like what it does. Just the idea of having to work hard so your kids are OK."

Meanwhile, as daddy was making the publicity rounds, Gwyneth, Apple and Moses enjoyed a more than OK family day out, hitting up a local park Sunday morning in New York.

The actress is currently in the Big(ger) Apple filming her new movie, Thanks for Sharing. Which is exactly what we'd say to Chris.
